Background: Remarriage is a second chance for people who have separated from their spouses to experience a new life together. The complexity of the family structure, financial management, unresolved emotional issues related to the previous spouse, fear of repeating marital dissolution, high levels of stress, and lack of communication skills cause the instability of the second marriage. Purpose: The present study was conducted with the aim of the effect of Bowen's family therapy on positive feelings about the spouse, marital intimacy, and the transformative function of the family in remarried women. Method: The present study was an experimental study based on a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population was all married women who had remarried in Isfahan city in 2023. Among the volunteers, 40 people were selected by the available sampling method and were replaced by random assignment in two groups (experimental and control). The measurement tools used in this research were the marital intimacy scale (Bagarozzi 1990), the positive feeling towards spouse questionnaire (O'Leary, Fincham, et al. 1983), and the family transformational function questionnaire (Aali and Kadivar 2015). For the subjects of the experimental group, 8 sessions of Bowen family therapy were performed for 90 minutes. They participated in the Bowen family therapy training program, but the control group did not receive any training. To analyze the research data, the covariance analysis method was used using SPSS version 24 software. Findings: The results showed that Bowen's family therapy was effective on marital intimacy needs. Also, Bowen’s family therapy has been effective in positive feelings toward the spouse. Conclusion: According to the obtained results, group therapy based on family systems theory can be used in counseling centers to increase marital intimacy and positive feelings toward the spouse.
