The consequences of individual, family and social harm resulting from the separation of women in society are very significant. The present study was conducted to compare self-differentiation, early maladaptive schema and perceived social support of the married and separated women. This was a causal-comparative research and the statistical population consisted of the married and separated women of District 2 of Gorgan, Iran in autumn 2016, of whom, 100 (50 separated and 50 married women) were selected as the sample using the non-probability sampling method with an element of judgment. Data were collected using the Young' early maladaptive schema questionnaire 1998, the multidimensional scale of perceived social support Zimet, Dahlem, Zimet, and Farley 1988, and the Skowron and Friedlander' self-differentiation inventory 1998. In general, six questionnaires were incompletely answered by subjects and 11 cases were excluded due to normalization of data. Data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of variance analysis. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the two groups of perceived social support (P > 0.039, F = 402.4) and there was no difference between two groups of separated and married women in terms of self- differentiation (P < 0.338, F = 0.079) and early maladaptive schema (P <0.079, F = 3.157). Research findings show that after separation, women encounter with some problems in understanding of the perceived social supports, emotional reactivity, and also in the cognitive domain, in some of the early maladaptive schema compared to the married women.
